Well I am on three hours sleep as I spent most of the night trying to stay calm. I had vaginal bleeding and clots for the fifth time during my second trimester and seeing it was very disturbing. I told my doctor about it at my last visit and it seems its something to do with my placenta lying low. It stops completely in a couple of hours but I’ve never experienced it before. A quick internet search shows that bleeding during pregnancy happens a lot and for a number of different reasons.
Bleeding at the very start of your pregnancy is pretty normal. Some women spot for the first few weeks of pregnancy as their body adjusts to the massive changes taking place. As long as it doesn’t get heavier or is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever and pain, I don’t think you should worry too much but I’m not a doctor. I should be clear. Any bleeding during your pregnancy, regardless of intensity, should be reported to your doctor.
If you have a lot of bleeding and cramping it could be a sign of a miscarriage. Although in the majority of cases there is nothing medical that can be done when a woman experiences a miscarriage you should still go to the emergency room and be examined and counseled by a professional. Your after miscarriage health should be monitored.
There are a number of problems and diseases that can cause bleeding during pregnancy. If the bleeding does not stop you need to go to the emergency room. Some problems can be treated or may be a sign of other problems that only a medical professional can determine. If you are losing a lot of blood, get help as soon as possible as you life could be in danger. We’ve all heard of women in the past dying from haemorrhage. That’s a lot of blood to lose so don’t hesitate. Get someone to drive you or call for an ambulance.
Well as I read over this it may seem like a scary post but its more a cautionary tale than anything. Every pregnancy is different and no matter how many times you have done it symptoms may occur that you have never experienced and shouldn’t ignore. Bleeding could be nothing, it might be something and it could be everything. Don’t hesitate, call your doctor.
